Please just read me a story without distraction. I don’t need to hear a variety of voices from a single narrator if a full-cast production is not in the cards.
As a big audiobook reader/listener, I've noticed this while trying to get lost in a story, even more so after reading this article. When the narrator creates a different voice for each character, it ruins my ability to imagine what they sound like, as I have done for years of reading analogue books. Don't get me started on the accents; they're unnecessary.
